ENVIRONMENTAL GUIDELINES BAJA GREECE  & RALLY GREECE OFFROAD

Before, during and after the event, organizers are strongly concerned regarding environmental issues.

Protection of environment and nature are of first priority. Organizers are committed to continuous improvement of environmental standards in compliance with FIA's sustainability program and with National laws.

Procedures, regulations and rules that govern this event take always in consideration impacts that may harm the environment.
In Baja Greece/ Rally Greece offroad the following actions are implemented:

 

• Organizers focus in promoting responsible waste management during the event and in the environmental awareness raising of staff and stakeholders.

​

• Our partner “DIADYMA SA” the Waste Management Agency of the Region of Western Macedonia places recycling waste containers for plastic, glass, paper and car oils in Service Park and is responsible for the collection and handling of the waste.

​

• Organizers promote the protection of biodiversity through environmental activities by manually collecting litter in Rally routes before and after the event with the support of our volunteers.

​

• All competitors and Organization members receive specific guidelines of how to avoid environmental pollution.

​

• Printing is minimized to absolute essential. Organizers implement a digital management of the event so to reduce as much as possible the necessity of printing. Any documents are printed on FSC certified papers.

​

• All Special Stages are conducted in areas that are approved and licensed by relevant authorities.

​

• Rally routes avoid to pass from territories of high environmental importance, such as National Parks, Protected Areas, etc.

​

• Signs and Tapes that Organizers put in Special Stages are removed after the end of the race.

​

• After the end of the race Organizers with the assistance of local authorities repair any damages on gravel roads that may occur from the usage by competitors.

​

• Any competitor wishing to race with a vehicle powered exclusively by electric or hybrid engine will be entitled to participate with reduced Entry Fee.

​

• Obligatory use of tires for stage rallying, with treads that limit the damage caused to road surfaces.

• ​

• Mud flaps are obligatory on rally cars to keep displaced gravel on the road surface.

​

• Window film or laminated glasses are strongly advised on rally cars to minimize the spread of glass if there is an accident.

​

• All Service Teams are obliged to use plastic grounds where rally cars are positioned for repairs and Park Ferme' area.

​

• Trophies of the event are made from birch, a sustainably sourced wood, that is a compostable and biodegradable material made without the use of chemicals and has little impact on the environment. FIA event trophies are sponsored by “Desfa”, the sustainability partner of Baja Greece.

​

• Organizers with the support of “Desfa”, the sustainability partner of Baja Greece, publish every year hiking paths which pass from the routes of the Special Stages with the aim to promote ecotourism. Learn more about eco-trails here.
